Product release notes, July 2026 - 3 brand new slide types

Hi, I’m Cheryl, Head of Growth at AhaSlides. If you train teams, teach a class, or present for a living, you already know the hard part isn’t the slides, it’s keeping a room genuinely with you. Every quiet Q&A, every glazed-over face after lunch, every “can everyone see this?” moment. That’s the problem my team and I think about every day, and it shaped everything we shipped this July.

This month we focused on two things: giving your audience new ways to join in, and helping you understand the people in front of you with a much stronger AhaSlides Survey. Here’s what’s new, and why I think it’ll make your next session easier.

🌟 This month’s highlights
🎨 Draw Answer: your audience sketches their reply on their phone, and every drawing lands on one shared wall, live.
🎯 2×2 Matrix: plot opinions across two axes and watch the room’s average build in real time.

🎨 Draw Answer: let your audience reply with a sketch

Sometimes a doodle says more than a sentence, and it’s a lot more fun.

The vibe check: Participants sketch their reply right on their phone, and every drawing lands on one shared wall, name-tagged and matched to your theme. Perfect for icebreakers, warm-ups, and creative brainstorms.

What’s new: Add a Draw Answer slide to your deck. Your audience draws on their device and submits; all responses appear together on the presenter wall.

Why I think you’ll love it: It’s a low-pressure way to get everyone joining in, especially the quieter people in your training room or classroom who’d never grab a microphone but will happily draw.

🎯 2×2 Matrix: plot opinions across two axes, live

Some decisions come down to a trade-off, like Impact vs Effort or Price vs Quality, and this slide makes that visual.

The vibe check: Name your two axes, add 2–8 items, and your audience drags each one onto the grid from their phone. You watch the room’s average position build live, one coloured dot at a time.

What’s new: Add a 2×2 Matrix slide to your deck. Participants place items and hit Submit; live results show each item as a coloured dot at its average spot, with a clear legend and response count.

2x2 Matrix slide

Why I think you’ll love it: It turns a vague group discussion into a clear picture everyone can see, ideal for workshops, planning sessions, and any group weighing options together.

🪙 Split the Points: let your audience show what matters most

It’s a poll with a twist: instead of picking just one option, your audience splits a pool of points across all of them to show how much each one matters.

The vibe check: Handy for far more than budgets. Divide up the team rewards, share out the party fund, or weigh competing priorities together, and see exactly where the room puts its points.

What’s new: Add a Split the Points slide to your deck and pick how people allocate: by percentage, by points from 10 up to 10,000, or your own custom unit. Participants distribute their points across your options and submit.

Why I think you’ll love it: It surfaces what your group truly prioritises, not just their top pick, which is gold when you’re facilitating a decision and want everyone to feel heard.

📦 Where to find them: All three new slide types (Draw Answer, 2×2 Matrix, and Split the Points) live in the redesigned Slide Marketplace, our refreshed way to browse and add slide types. It’s where new slide types will keep landing on a weekly cadence, so keep an eye out for more.

📋 A big month for AhaSlides Survey

If you use surveys to understand your learners or your audience, this one’s for you. Survey got its biggest month yet: more ways to ask, more control over how it looks, and clearer results. Here’s everything that upgraded:

  • 🎨 Themed look: surveys now inherit the theme from your AhaSlides Presentation (background, colour palette, font, and text colour), so they automatically look on-brand for respondents. Available on the Essential plan and up.

  • 📊 Net Promoter Score (NPS): a first-class question type that asks the classic 0–10 “how likely are you to recommend us?” and calculates your NPS automatically, with a purpose-built results view (Detractors / Passives / Promoters).

  • 🤝 Contact Information: collect Name, Email, Phone, and Company in one clean block instead of stitching together separate questions.

  • 💬 “Other” option: add an “Other” choice to Multiple Choice and Checkbox questions, with a free-text field for respondents and a tidy breakdown in Results.

  • 🔤 Toggle letter boxes: show or hide the A, B, C… labels on answer options for Multiple Choice and Ranking questions.

  • 📈 Expanded Results metrics: the Results summary now shows five cards: Started answering, Completions, Completion rate, Dropout rate, and Average duration.

  • 🗑️ Delete Responses: owners can delete a single response or wipe them all (with a CSV backup and type-to-confirm safety), without affecting the survey link, styling, or integrations.

  • 📊 Reports → Surveys tab: a dedicated tab in Reports to see all your surveys in one place, with search, date filters, and sorting.

  • 🧩 Survey slides in Presentation Templates: templates can now include a Survey slide, so applying a template brings the survey along with it.

  • 🎛️ Unified AI setting: Survey’s AI features now follow the same on/off switch as the rest of AhaSlides, whether set at the account level or enforced by an admin.

Survey improvements

👥 Team management just got easier

If you roll AhaSlides out across a team of trainers or a whole department, these are for you. We removed a couple of long-standing snags:

What’s new:

  • Simpler team creation: just enter a team name and the team is created instantly. No need to invite a member first.

  • Invite personal-plan users: people already on a personal plan can now be invited to a team like anyone else.

  • Rename your team: team owners and admins can now change the team name at any time.

Why this matters: Less friction when setting up and running a team, so you can get everyone presenting faster.

📧 Clearer, more secure email verification

Keeping accounts secure is easier when everyone’s email is verified.

What’s new: On collaborator and team-member lists, unverified members now show a shield icon with a tooltip prompting them to verify their email. Verification emails also got refreshed content.

Why this matters: You can spot unverified members at a glance and nudge them, so sharing decks with your team feels that bit safer.

🖥️ PowerPoint add-in improvements

For those of you who live in PowerPoint, two small updates that save real clicks:

  • Remembers your last presentation: insert the add-in on a new slide and it opens straight to where you left off, instead of back at the full presentation list.

  • Auto-scales to fit the slide: the add-in block now automatically fills the slide, so there’s no manual resizing on every slide. (Windows only for now; macOS is not yet supported.)

🌍 Two new languages: Azerbaijani & Bosnian

As AhaSlides grows across Europe, we’ve added Azerbaijani and Bosnian to both the Presenter and Audience apps, so more presenters and participants can use AhaSlides in their own language.

Every one of these came from watching how you present and listening to what you told us. If something here makes your next session land a little better, that’s exactly what we were hoping for. And if there’s something you wish AhaSlides did but doesn’t yet, I’d love to hear it, drop a comment below or reach out to our team any time. I read these.

Here’s to your next full room,
Cheryl ❤️
